Although accidents are inevitable, improving vehicle braking safety can effectively reduce traffic accident losses.
With the rapid development of the light truck industry, the competition in the light truck market is becoming more and more fierce, the upgrading and change of light truck models is getting faster and faster, and the braking safety of vehicles is getting better and better.
On the one hand, regulations and policies have higher and higher requirements for vehicle braking safety, on the other hand, the safety awareness of cardholders is getting stronger and stronger, and they are paying more and more attention to the vehicle braking safety configuration function, so vehicle braking safety has become the key point to enhance product competitiveness.
▎1. ABS braking anti-lock braking device
At present, all light truck models are equipped with ABS configuration as standard, according to the "Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Commercial Vehicles and Trailer Braking Systems", from July 1, 2016, trucks leaving the factory are mandatory to install ABS brake anti-lock devices.
ABS function cardholders are more familiar with, mainly in the vehicle emergency braking to prevent the wheel from locking, so as to play the role of emergency braking direction controllable, rear wheel does not flick the tail, improve the safety factor of vehicle emergency braking.
▎2. Air brake
The shut-off brake function is also familiar to the cardholders, and the driving brake safety has nothing to do with the safety of the parking brake, its advantage is that the parking braking force is greater, to prevent the parking slope.
And because its working principle is to empty the gas in the brake chamber to generate braking force, even if the brake system leaks when the vehicle is parked, it will not affect its braking performance, which greatly improves the reliability of the parking brake.
▎3. a self-adjusting arm
From 1 January 2018, the regulations require that all service brakes of trucks with a total mass greater than 3,500 kg should be equipped with automatic brake clearance adjustment.
The most used automatic brake clearance adjustment device for light truck models is the self-adjusting arm, which can be automatically adjusted according to the wear of the brake shoe and brake drum during each braking process, so as to ensure that the brake shoe and the brake drum are always in the best clearance set, so as to ensure that the braking force response is faster and the driving is safer.
▎4. Disc brake
Although there are fewer light truck models using disc brakes, cardholders are still familiar with disc brakes, disc brakes are braking through the friction between the brake caliper and the brake disc, in fact, there are many advantages of disc brake.
For example: braking is smoother, braking is more sensitive, heat dissipation is better, etc., but the disadvantages of disc brake are also obvious, that is, it does not conform to the current phenomenon of general overload in the light truck market, and the brake disc is prone to cracking and other problems.
▎5. Aluminum alloy gas reservoir quick insertion line
Affected by the "large ton and small standard" incident, vehicle lightweight has become a routine work, and aluminum alloy gas cylinder is a major weight reduction measure, 521 before only high-end models such as Shuai Ling are standard.
Now most models of various brands have been equipped as standard, aluminum alloy air reservoir not only plays a role in weight reduction, but also can prevent corrosion, so as to prevent rust brake valve, brake system performance is more reliable.
In addition, the quick-plug pipeline is also a large-scale promotion of a configuration in recent years, because its plug-in joint material is copper or plastic, so it also has anti-rust effect, and the push-in joint can be rotated, the vehicle shake will not affect its sealing, and the braking safety performance is guaranteed, and the previous threaded connection will cause air leakage due to the aging of the sealant or the loosening of the nut.
Both the aluminum alloy air reservoir and the quick plug-in line can improve the reliability of the braking system and improve driving safety.
▎6. Dryer four-circuit protection valve
At present, there are dryers in the air brake type, which is mainly used to filter out the moisture in the air and improve the reliability of the braking system.
At present, some models have used four-circuit protection valves, a circuit to control the front wheel brake, a circuit to control the rear wheel brake, a circuit to control the air brake, a circuit to control the row assist, clutch assistance and other auxiliary devices, when one of the circuits fails, it will not affect the work of other circuits, which greatly improves the safety and reliability of braking.
▎7. Relay valve
Air brake type rear axle brake generally uses quick release valve, at present, only some models use relay valve, the main advantage of the relay valve is faster braking response, shorter braking distance.
The relay valve has two intake pipes, one thick (blue arrow) and one thin (red arrow), the thick intake pipe plays the role of braking, and the thin intake pipe transmits the brake signal.
The working principle of the relay valve is that the brake pedal transmits the brake signal to the relay valve through a thin pipe, and then the air reservoir directly transmits the brake gas to the relay valve through the coarse inlet pipe, and the brake gas transmission distance is the distance between the air reservoir and the relay valve, while the quick release valve has only one coarse intake pipe that plays the role of braking.
The braking transmission distance is the distance between the air reservoir and the brake pedal and then to the quick release valve, and the brake gas transmission distance of the relay valve is much smaller than that of the quick release valve, so the braking response is faster and the braking is safer.
▎8. Drive anti-slip ASR
Drive anti-skid is a safety function developed on the basis of ABS, the main function of the drive anti-skid function is to improve the stability of the vehicle in starting and driving, especially in the snow, when it rains.
The working principle is that when one side of the tire idles, the braking force is applied to the tire to prevent the tire from skidding, so as to ensure the stability and safety of the vehicle, and there are few light truck models with this function.
▎9. Ramp auxiliary HAC
Hill assist is a very practical function, especially for trucks, because the total mass of the truck is large and the risk of slipping is large, the main function of the hill assist function is to start on the ramp, there is still braking force within 3 seconds after releasing the brake, which is equivalent to the braking force delay function, so that the driver has enough time to step on the clutch pedal and accelerator pedal to prevent the vehicle from slipping.
At present, only JAC Shuailing all-round trucks can choose this function in light truck models, and there is a special switch on the left side of the instrument.
▎10. Electronic parking brake automatic parking
Electronic parking brake and automatic parking function are the configuration functions launched by light truck models in the past two years, such as SAIC Yuejin, Sinotruk Ace and other new models have this configuration.
The electronic handbrake is to replace the previous shut-off brake or wire drawing switch with an electronic signal, and the automatic parking is to automatically pull the handbrake after the vehicle stops, and automatically release the handbrake when stepping on the accelerator or clutch, which improves the convenience of driving operation and is very practical.
