Just changing the brake king will make it stand firm? It's not that simple!
I mentioned something before, which is that most people who have used the 'Brake King' would say it’s not that good, but this does not stop 'Brake King' from being very popular on the market. Where I live, there are many mountain roads, and I have naturally also modified my vehicle with a 'Brake King' before. My original intention was to make braking more reliable on mountain roads, but after the modification, is it really that effective?
▎Why does it feel more powerful after changing to Brake King?

In fact, the principle of the 'Brake King' is very simple. It disrupts the original linear increase of air pressure during braking, directly ignoring the portion where the brake air pressure is low and advancing the portion with a larger air volume. In this way, it gives people the feeling that the brakes are better, which is why modifying to a 'Brake King' feels like improved braking.
However, when the vehicle is empty, because the portion with lower air pressure is gone, the brakes become very sensitive and can lock up easily with light use, which is particularly uncomfortable to operate on slippery roads.

To avoid this situation, the once-popular empty-load valve appeared. When the vehicle is empty, it is switched to the empty side, making the brakes less harsh. The actual principle is to reduce the air volume, so the feeling under your foot becomes softer.
Nowadays, the most popular 'Soft Brake King' works on the same principle. The difference is that it integrates a throttle valve in the valve body, which takes effect when you lightly press the brake, making braking softer and preventing the empty vehicle from locking up easily.
▎New cars can stop well, old ones not so much. After installing the Brake King, braking becomes somewhat better.

Above we talked about the principle of the Brake King, so everyone has a bit more understanding of what the Brake King is all about. But many truck drivers say that when their car was new, they didn't modify it, and after running for a year or two, the brakes didn't work well anymore.
After installing the Brake King, they clearly feel that the brakes are much better, especially on old cars. After changing it, it's completely different from before; the brakes are stronger and can stop the vehicle. What's going on here?

This issue is quite representative; many truck owners have encountered such situations. But in reality, is it really the case that the brakes fail just because the vehicle is old? From my experience with most vehicles I've encountered, cars that are properly maintained on a daily basis basically do not have this problem. So why is that?
Let me share something I actually experienced. A friend's trailer had quite poor brakes, so he spent 1,500 yuan to install the so-called 'Soft Brake King.' But the trailer brakes still didn't respond well to light pressure, and if pressed further, they would lock up, making them very hard to use. His axle was a BPW, and theoretically, this situation shouldn't have happened.
But when I got under the vehicle, I was shocked: almost every axle's brake camshaft bushing and camshaft had enough space that you could fit a chopstick in between. Such a large gap naturally resulted in the consequences mentioned earlier. Although this was related to his long-term hauling of sand and gravel, the main reason was neglect in regular maintenance. For such issues, does replacing the 'Brake King' help? The answer is no.
▎Braking requires overall coordination and timely maintenance. Replacing the 'Brake King' is just a psychological suggestion.

In practice, brakes not working well is often caused by improper maintenance. The example above is a result of neglecting regular brake maintenance, which ended up costing 1,500 yuan without solving the problem. Instead of addressing the root cause of deteriorating brakes, people opt to upgrade to high-performance brakes.
At first, after the upgrade, it may seem effective and give a sense of trust, but this is just a psychological effect. In reality, after using it for some time, the problem gradually worsens, putting the vehicle's braking system into a vicious repair cycle, where nothing seems to work no matter what is replaced. Therefore, proper regular maintenance is the correct approach.
