If its mechanism fails, it can cause the brake clearance to gradually increase, eventually leading to the dangerous situation of brake failure. Compared to other parts under the car, the control arm can be considered a hotspot for collecting dirt. People who often drive long distances know that, due to the grease inside the control arm, it easily attracts dust, mud, and other debris from the underside of the car. Due to the structure, the adjusting worm (adjusting screw) is not completely sealed, and many contaminants can enter the interior through the gaps beside the worm. If there is too much dirt, it can easily cause structural failure when we adjust the brake clearance, meaning that the worm locking sleeve cannot spring back into place. Therefore, during regular maintenance, don’t forget to clean the worm on the adjusting arm.
