Make the brakes more powerful: Note truck drivers replacing the dryer.
In the pneumatic brake system, the dryer tube functions to filter residual moisture from the compressed air and impurities in the pipeline. Therefore, whether the drying tank operates normally directly affects the performance of the brakes.
The dryer belongs to consumable parts of the vehicle. After a certain period of use, when the desiccant inside the dryer reaches saturation with absorbed moisture, the dryer will no longer be able to filter water vapor. To avoid affecting the normal braking performance of the brake system and prevent brake failure caused by water accumulation in the pipeline, the dryer needs to be replaced regularly.● Before replacing the dryer, drain the air from the air tank.
Although replacing the dryer tank is not complicated, I would like to remind fellow drivers without replacement experience to be cautious. The dryer tank is connected to the air circuit, and there is a certain pressure difference between the inside of the tank and the outside. If the compressed air is not completely released, dismantling it recklessly can cause the compressed air to be released instantly, which can easily injure the person performing the dismantling. Therefore, be sure to release the air in the air reservoir (by repeatedly pressing the brake pedal until the pressure gauge reads zero) before disassembling the dryer tank.● Special tools save time and effort
The disassembly and assembly of the drying tank requires a special wrench. Since the truck owner's vehicle is currently unloading goods, it is inconvenient to go to the repair shop. Therefore, Truck Home specially brought a dedicated wrench for disassembling the drying tank to master Gao.
With the aid of specialized tools, the drying tank was easily removed. Upon inspection, the inside of the removed drying tank was covered with oil stains. The large amount of oil suggests that the pump rings might not be sealing properly, allowing engine oil to enter the air passage. This greatly reduces the drying tank's effectiveness in filtering moisture from the pipelines.
During installation, the base of the drying tank should be cleaned of oil to prevent it from entering the interior of the new tank, which could affect dehumidification performance and reduce the effectiveness of the new tank.
Since there is no formal recycling system for discarded air dryers on the market, vehicle owners usually choose to discard scrapped air dryers, sometimes even throwing them directly into household trash bins. Some discarded air dryers contain traces of oil. The resource waste from not recycling them is minor, but the environmental pollution caused is significant. Truck Home recommends that relevant agencies should carry out unified recycling and disposal of such discarded products.● Editor's Note:In addition to absorbing moisture from the air, air dryers can also absorb oil. For instance, if a air pump leaks oil, the oil can follow the air lines into other components, causing contamination or system failure.
