If the air circuit is broken, don't you need to stop in a hurry? This will be more trouble-free
When a circuit in the brake system is broken, we should drive to a nearby repair point for repair while confirming that other parts are not damaged. Why do this?
Let's first understand the "protection device" four-circuit protection valve in the brake system, after understanding, we will know why not rush to stop when a circuit in the brake system is broken!
● Four-loop protection valve working principle
Depending on the application, the four circuits are connected in parallel, and the air pressure is charged at the same time, or the 1st and 2nd circuits are inflated before the 3rd and 4th circuits. Some models have a bypass hole in all circuits to ensure that if one circuit fails, the brake system inflates from 0 bar.
Compressed air from the regulator enters the quadruple protection valve through 1 port and into the four circuits of the system through bypass holes (A, B, C, D) and check valves (H, J, Q, R). At the same time, the pressure is also established under the valve (G, K, P, S), and when the set opening pressure (protection pressure) is reached, the valve opens and the diaphragm (F, I, O, T) once again overcomes the spring (E, M, N, U) force and bulges. Then the compressed air flows into the 1st circuit gas reservoir and 2nd circuit gas reservoir of the driving brake system through ports 21 and 22, and enters the 3rd and 4th circuits through ports 23 and 24. The 3 circuits supply air to the truck's emergency braking and parking brake systems, and also provide air for the trailer. 4 circuits supply air to the auxiliary braking system.
The four-circuit protection valve (hereinafter referred to as the four-circuit protection valve) is arranged by a plurality of pressure limiting check valves (usually four) in a certain relationship, and some of them are appropriately attached with other functional mechanisms to realize the supply of air source in the brake system of commercial vehicles and ensure the independent and normal operation of each circuit
In a four-circuit braking system, if one or more circuits fail, the brake air pressure of the circuit can be maintained.
If you see that the air pressure in the front axle circuit is low (air leakage), other circuits can still supply air, and if you see that the air pressure in the rear axle circuit is gone, you should stop in time and use the remaining braking efficiency to park the vehicle in a safe area for a short period of time.
Tips: When the front axle of the four-circuit protection valve is broken, the rest of the circuits can still retain the brake air pressure of 6.5 pressure, and the brake is still effective!
