Look back at the history of Oka !
For the Chinese commercial vehicle market, DAF Trucks DAF seems to be a brand that is both familiar and unfamiliar. In the early 90s, the domestic market began to introduce DAF 65CF models in small batches, which were used in postal express and other fields in western China, and its performance was also quite positive. However, due to various reasons in the subsequent development, DAF did not achieve a broader market in the Chinese market.
On the home turf of Europe, DAF DAF trucks are well-deserved road stars, in 75 years of development, not only in the field of road transport has made significant achievements, but also in the field of special vehicles, DAF DAF trucks is a well-deserved leader in the European market. On June 28, 2024, DAF Trucks celebrated the manufacturing milestone of DAF's 75th anniversary with the launch of the DAF XG Special Edition.
▎ Founded in 1928, the factory has gone through the baptism of the years
In 1928, Hub van Doorne founded a small machine shop called Commanditaire Vennootschap Hub van Doorne's Machinefabriek. In the early days, DAF not only produced simple transmissions, but also tried to produce trailers and semi-trailers with relatively low technical content, but they were never cars in the true sense of the word.
In 1932, Hub van Doorne and his brother Wim van done officially changed their company name to van Done's Aanhangwagen Fabriek (Van Doorne's Trailer Factory) or DAF for short.
The DF A30 was initially on the production line for the chassis and the cab was purchased separately
With the surge in demand for trucks after World War II, DAF stepped into the truck manufacturing field in 1949 and introduced the DF A30 truck, which was actually a chassis with an engine, grille, brakes and steering, mainly for the 3-ton truck market, typically characterized by a 7-bar horizontal grille in the middle. In the early years, the customer had to get a cab from a professional coachbuilder, so the car looked a little different.
DF A50 (5 tons)
A few months later, as the first model rolled off the assembly line, DAF followed up with the DAF A50 (5 tonnes) and DAF A60 (6 tonnes) for heavy-duty work. The A10 cargo truck, which was used in the 1-ton market, was first unveiled in 1950, followed by a derivative pickup model, the A107. In just a few years, the number of DAF models has grown rapidly, including dump trucks, garbage trucks, chassis vehicles, and a range of military vehicles. In a short period of time, DAF has developed into a truck brand and has become a beautiful landscape.
DAF 2600 Airbag seats, double sleepers, this is a truck born in 1962.
The DAF 2800 was not one bed, but two, and at the time it was the number one truck in long-haul hauling.
First introduced in 1962, the DAF 2600 caused a sensation when it was introduced at the Amsterdam trade fair that year. Because DAF's new truck was one of the first to be designed around the driver: excellent ergonomics, excellent all-round visibility, suspension seats and a sleeper cab with bunk beds. That's why the DAF cab has a spacious and comfortable tone.
DAF 95系列,它还配备了宽敞且目前非常流行的Space Cab。
In 1969, DAF launched the F1600/F2000 series trucks, which had a modular cab design, which made it more functional and comfortable. In 1987, DAF launched the 95 series truck, which left a strong mark on the brand's history, with a new large cab that further improved its driving comfort, and its 11.6-liter engine made it enter the high-horsepower tractor camp in one fell swoop.
Thanks to its new cab design and advanced power matching, the DAF 95 truck won its first Truck of the Year award in 1988. From today's point of view, DAF Trucks' achievements in the history of the European truck brand are remarkable. In particular, since 2021, DAF's new generation XF, XG and XG models have been selected as the "2022 International Truck of the Year", and in 2022, DAF's new XD has once again won the "2023 International Truck of the Year" award, and so far, DAF Trucks has won the title of International Truck of the Year 7 times.
The same is true when it comes to power, and in 1959 DAF was one of the first truck manufacturers in Europe to apply turbocharging to diesel engines. In 1973, DAF introduced turbocharged intercooling, which initially met the need for higher engine output and lower fuel consumption, but later proved indispensable for achieving cleaner exhaust gases. In 1980, DAF introduced Advanced Turbocharged Intercoolant (ATi), which further reduced fuel consumption and improved engine performance. To this day, the DAF is still well-known for its 12.9-litre PACCAR MX-13 and 10.8-litre PACCAR MX-11 engines.
