What's the purpose of the spiral air pipe?
The engine's air compressor is responsible for the normal operation of all the vehicle's pneumatic equipment, including brakes, clutch, airbag seats, and various precision pneumatic control valves, all of which require dry and clean compressed air. The air dryer fitted in the vehicle already filters impurities and water, but that’s not enough. Many vehicles still have issues with pipelines and check valves freezing or getting damaged because of water in the system. So why does water still appear?
Air contains moisture, and when the air volume is compressed, it generates heat. When the temperature is high, the condensation rate of water vapour decreases. This compressed air medium, containing moisture and heat, is transmitted through the pipes to the air dryer, causing the temperature of the entire pipeline to rise sharply, and the high-temperature air enters the entire air system without necessary cooling.
The components of the dryer assembly are severely damaged, and the pipes are so hot during testing that you can't touch them with your hands, greatly reducing the dryer's filtering efficiency. As air goes through extreme heat and cold cycles, the moisture in the air turns back into water when it enters the air tank, accumulating throughout the air system.
The air spiral tube is installed between the air compressor and the air dryer. Compressed air passes through the spiral tube first, which greatly reduces the temperature. By the time the compressed air enters the dryer, its temperature is close to the ambient temperature, reducing the likelihood of moisture and allowing the dryer to work effectively. Currently, truck manufacturers equip vehicles with standard air spiral tubes, but vehicles without one can also try this method and install a nice spiral tube.
