Don't let a poor-quality dryer affect the brakes
There are many factors that affect a vehicle's braking performance, and today let's look at one reason that many people often overlook, which is the drying canister. After using a low-quality drying canister for a short time, it will lose its ability to absorb moisture from the air, and in some cases, the desiccant from the canister can enter the vehicle's air system, causing greater safety and property damage.
Drying jar to be replaced
There's a leak at the bottom of the can
This drying tank, which has been used for about a year, has started leaking at the bottom, letting internal moisture escape through the tank gaps, leaving visible marks around the tank.
There are obvious signs of water inside the assembly
After taking off the old dryer, we found that there was already some water inside the dryer assembly, and there was a layer of black oil on the bolts of the dryer vent, which shows that the dryer had been failing for quite a while.
Bigger filter holes can easily let the desiccant spill out
Let's also take a look at the vent holes of the drying canister; they all use relatively large-diameter holes. At first glance, this design doesn't seem wrong, but if thinner filter paper and smaller diameter desiccants are used, it's easy for the higher pressure in the vehicle's air circuit to push the internal desiccant out directly into the air circuit, causing blockages and creating a safety hazard.
Compared to the brand new drying tank to be installed
After comparing the drying cans, it's clear that the latter has a smaller vent hole diameter and a better reinforced design, so even under higher pressure, the internal desiccant won't get into the vehicle's air system.
