A braking system with immense power turns out to be so fragile after all.

Reduced braking performance, air pump leaks, oil coming out of the air tank—these are all signs that there's a problem with the air system, and one of the main culprits is a failed dryer tank.

As the name suggests, a dryer tank is for drying the air. Its main job is to prevent too much moisture from building up in a truck's air system, which can cause other parts to corrode and rust. Don’t underestimate the problems caused by a low-quality dryer tank—next, we’ll show you the huge losses a bad dryer tank can bring to truck drivers.

A fellow driver’s vehicle had an ABS warning while driving, so they brought it to the repair shop for a check. After removing the ABS valve, a pretty serious problem was found. What exactly was the issue? Keep reading to find out.

The ABS system is pretty delicate, and no dirt or dust should get inside while it’s working. But on this truck, you can already see clear signs of rust inside the ABS valve connection.

It’s likely because the air, which contains a lot of moisture, caused the air passages to rust, and the rust then got carried along with the airflow into the valve itself. This can make the ABS valve stick, leading to brake problems.

Next, let's take a look at the brake air pressure outlet. You can see oil stains here, which means the air compressor has an 'engine oil burning' issue, and the compressor’s lubricating oil has already entered the ABS valve along with the airflow.

At this point, cleaning it won’t help much, and truck owners will have to spend a lot to buy a new ABS valve assembly for replacement. As for the rust and oil stains in the pipes, besides the oil surge from the air compressor, it’s mainly because low-quality dryers can’t properly dry the air, which leads to rust in the air lines.
