What is a truck handshake valve? You'll know after reading this article.
The connection between the trailer and the tractor is divided into two forms: one is the connection between the trailer kingpin and the tractor fifth wheel, which serves to tow the trailer; the other is the connection of their air and electrical lines, which supplies air and power to the trailer, thereby enabling its braking and lighting.
The air lines of the tractor and the trailer are connected using quick couplings. Common couplings are divided into quick-connect valves and handshake valves. Today, Truck e-Family will introduce the handshake valve, which is so named because its coupling resembles two hands shaking.
Affected by the mainline drop-and-hook practice, trailers on the market are generally equipped with quick-connect valves. Therefore, even if the tractor comes with a handshake valve, most owners still choose to replace it. Handshake valves have better connection reliability. Although they are not as convenient as quick-connect valves for loading and unloading, they are safer, and the air line connection can be completed in less than a minute.
