Summer Truck Maintenance Tips to Make Driving Safer!

High summer temperatures are also a test for the daily maintenance of cars. Compared to regular cars, trucks are much more likely to get into accidents, so truck drivers definitely need to pay attention to truck maintenance in the summer. Today, I’m going to share some summer truck maintenance tips, hoping to help everyone out.

▎Timely Oil Changes

For summer truck maintenance, the first thing you need to do is check the condition of all the fluids and replace them if necessary. As temperatures rise, the work environment for lubricating oils changes, which puts stricter demands on viscosity. Therefore, it's recommended that truck owners switch from low-viscosity oils to higher-viscosity oils. Also, make sure the fuel tank cap is tightly sealed to prevent evaporation.

▎Paint Maintenance

Hot and rainy summer weather can easily damage truck paint. If you don’t want to drive around in a shabby truck, you need to pay attention. After heavy rain, wash your vehicle promptly to prevent rusting on the underside.

▎Tire Maintenance

We know that summer temperatures definitely affect tire pressure. Since trucks are on the road a lot, it’s crucial to avoid blowouts. Tire aging or incorrect tire pressure can easily lead to blowouts!

In summer, it’s especially important to regularly check and maintain your truck’s tires. Check tire pressure frequently to prevent blowouts! Also, never overload your truck. Overloading increases the vehicle’s weight and tire pressure, which raises the risk of tire blowouts.

▎Ignition System Maintenance

During rainy days in summer, trucks may experience leakage in the ignition system due to dampness, making the engine hard to start. If this happens, you can first use dry tissues or a cloth to wipe the inside and outside of the distributor and the wires dry. Then, spray desiccant on the distributor cap, battery terminals, spark plugs, high-voltage wires, and ignition coils. After waiting for a while, you can start the engine.

These are some tips for maintaining trucks during the summer. Truck drivers should take good care of their vehicles to improve driving safety.
