The drying tank is used to filter the water vapor in the compressed air in the air circuit system to prevent the gas reservoir and various pump valves from being corroded, so whether the drying tank can work normally directly affects the performance of the brake. In reality, many card friends often ignore the existence of the drying tank because they do not have a comprehensive understanding of it. Although the drying tank is not expensive, many card friends can still save, and it doesn't matter about the quality of the drying tank, as long as one can be used, some even don't change it once every few years. Master Chen said that he had suffered a loss because of the inferior drying tank, and once he ran to Heilongjiang in winter, the inferior drying tank that had just been replaced failed, and as a result, the water in the brake sub-pump froze and the brake failed. Since experiencing that lesson firsthand, he no longer dared to use inferior drying tanks.
When replacing the drying tank, Master Chen said that the drying tank on the car is now bought by the driver in the auto parts store halfway, although it has not been replaced for a long time, but because he is not familiar with the brand, he does not know what the effect of relieving the humidity is, and the service life is unknown, and after entering November, the temperature in the northeast gradually decreases. The operation of replacing the drying tank is not cumbersome, but here we also want to remind card friends that because the drying tank is connected to the air circuit, there is a certain pressure difference between the tank and the outside world, and the compressed air is disassembled when it is not emptied, and the compressed air is released instantly, which is very easy to cause injury to the dismantling personnel. Therefore, the air in the gas tank must be emptied (repeatedly stepping on the brakes until the barometer reads zero) before the drying tank can be disassembled.
After removing the drying tank with the help of a special wrench, you can see water droplets on the base, which shows that the humidity of the compressed air is still very large. If the drying tank is poorly filtered, this liquid water will enter the various pump valves from the air path to the brake.
Before installing a new drying tank, first clean the base to prevent oil from entering the inside of the new tank and affecting the dehumidification performance. Then apply a layer of oil to the rubber gasket under the new drying tank to lubricate and prevent damage to the rubber gasket during installation.
Because the drying tank is easy to replace, many card friends are replaced by themselves, Master Chen is no exception, but when installing, he said that we must pay attention to the wrench as close to the base as possible, many card friends who do not pay attention, put the wrench on the top of the tank, and use too much force when twisting, and the tank is easy to deform.
We have done a survey on drying tanks before, and many card friends said that they don't know when to change them, and many people may not change them once in a few years as long as there is no problem. And the service life of different brands of drying tanks is different, and the climate environment of the vehicle is also different, so it is difficult to unify the replacement cycle. If you really don't know when to replace it, you can judge it by checking whether the gas tank is waterlogged.
Use the vent valve at the bottom of the tank to check whether the bottom of the tank is wet or watery. If the drying tank fails, water will flow out after opening the valve, and the drying tank should be replaced with a new one immediately.
There are many reasons that affect brake performance, and the drying tank is definitely an important factor that cannot be ignored, if you use inferior products, or do not replace for a long time, resulting in the loss of dehumidification performance, it will seriously affect the braking safety of the whole vehicle. The weather is about to turn cold, especially for card friends in the northern region, they should always pay attention to whether the drying tank is working properly and replace it in time to avoid losing big due to small things.
